About Dr. Rich Blake
Hello, my name is Dr Richard Blake, and I have just retired from practice after 41 years. My love of Biomechanics and Sports Medicine has made me want to continue to share with others. My goal with providing continuing education is to share the benefits, techniques and outcomes possible with a Biomechanical approach to lower extremity care.
What are my qualifications for this job?
I have taught every year at the San Francisco and now Oakland Podiatry schools since I graduated in 1979. I currently help in a Biomechanics workshop for 2nd year students. I am Past President of the American Academy of Podiatric Sports Medicine.
Understanding biomechanics has helped thousands of my patients in their attempt to keep active. This has been very rewarding. I am a constant learner, and have found incredible help with patients in understanding biomechanics from many disciplines and countries.
“I have written 4 books now in Podiatry, run a podiatry blog, and continue to lecture.”

Our students love us
I’ve been in practice for over 12 years, and I didn’t realize how many gaps I had in my biomechanical exam until I took this course. The weightbearing and non-weightbearing modules alone changed how I evaluate patients. I feel much more structured and confident when prescribing orthotics now. Patients notice the difference, and honestly, so do I
What I appreciated most was how practical everything was. This wasn’t theory for theory’s sake. The gait evaluation module helped me connect what I was seeing clinically with measurable biomechanics principles. I’ve already adjusted how I approach lower extremity injuries, and outcomes have improved. It’s made my treatment plans more intentional.
As someone early in my career, I wanted something structured that went beyond what we briefly covered in school. Dr. Blake explains biomechanics in a way that makes it usable immediately. The mechanical changes modules were especially helpful for understanding forefoot and rearfoot injuries. I now feel confident discussing orthotic options with patients instead of avoiding the topic.
Are you a clinician looking to fill your schedule with new patients that will invest in more services, increasing your per patient ROI?
